This summer, I had the pleasure of taking my daughter Julia to the Newport Jazz Festival—a day filled with incredible music, shared experiences, and stunning views. Attending only the final day of the four-day event, we made the most of our time, enjoying performances from a mix of contemporary and legendary artists.
Julia was thrilled to see her favorite musician, Laufey, whose soulful performance captivated the crowd. For me, the highlight was the iconic Nile Rodgers, whose energy and timeless hits had everyone grooving. It was amazing to experience such diverse styles of music, from modern jazz to old-school funk, all in one day.
Set against the backdrop of Fort Adams and the Newport Harbor, the festival offered more than just music. The scenic views of the Newport Bridge and the surrounding area added a layer of charm to the event. Between sets, we took in the sights, wandering through the festival grounds and appreciating the historic ambiance of Fort Adams.
Unfortunately, our day was cut short when thunderstorms rolled in during the final act. While the weather forced an abrupt end to the festival, it didn’t dampen our spirits. The memories of the music, the laughter, and the moments shared made it a truly unforgettable experience.
Although I only managed to snap a handful of photos, I wanted to share a small album that captures the essence of the day. From shots of the musicians on stage to the sweeping views of Newport’s landmarks, these images reflect the harmony of music and scenery that made the Newport Jazz Festival so special.
If you’ve ever been to the Newport Jazz Festival or have plans to go, I’d love to hear about your favorite performances or memories. For us, it was a perfect mix of music, family, and coastal beauty—a day we’ll cherish for years to come.
