A Quick Detour in Littleton, NH

Littleton, New Hampshire, was a spontaneous stop on a long drive to Montreal, prompted by hunger and curiosity. Our goal was a particular restaurant, conveniently situated next to a charming covered bridge, offering the perfect excuse to explore a bit of this old New England town. The day was unusually warm, with temperatures soaring into the 90s, and my daughter and I found ourselves seeking shade as we strolled through this quaint mill town after lunch. Despite the heat, the timeless quality of the scenery made it an irresistible subject to capture.

Littleton embodies the quintessential charm of a bygone era, with its picturesque covered bridge, historic waterwheel, and small-town streets lined with character. One scene stood out vividly—a classic Plymouth muscle car parked in front of a vintage-inspired movie theater. Together, they formed a snapshot that could have been plucked straight from another time. It was one of those moments where everything aligned, the past and present blending seamlessly, evoking a sense of nostalgia that seemed to permeate the town.

I didn’t set out to create a blog post or even tell a specific story through these photos. My main focus was testing film simulations on my camera, specifically the Kodak Gold setting, which lent a warm, vintage tone to the images. With limited time and a small area to explore, this became more of a visual exercise, resulting in a simple yet cohesive set of images perfect for sharing. These photos don’t just document a quick stop—they highlight the textures and tones that make Littleton a beautiful slice of New England.

As a warmup to my ultimate destination of Montreal, this brief stop in Littleton proved both refreshing and fulfilling. The lush landscapes, combined with the town’s historical charm, provided a perfect prelude to the journey ahead. Sharing this moment with my daughter made it all the more memorable—a reminder that even unplanned detours can lead to cherished memories.

If you’re ever passing through, I’d encourage you to stop and explore Littleton for yourself. Its timeless streets, rich with vintage character, are a photographer’s playground and a traveler’s delight. Who knows what scenes you might stumble upon that take you back in time? Let me know if you’ve been here—or if this inspires you to visit—I’d love to hear your thoughts!
